There are many business filings a business must do to comply with the IRS tax laws. The business filings duties of every business in the United States involve:

  • collecting income taxes which are passed on to the IRS such as through wages withholding

     

  • filing employment tax returns. Businesses with employees must file five employment tax returns over the course of the year:

     

    • 4 employment tax returns cover the wage withholding on employees

       

    • the 5th employment tax returns covers unemployment taxes

       

    • The IRS tax forms used are 941 and 940

     

  • filing business income tax returns that are much more complicated than individual tax returns

     

  • filing information returns such as Form W-2 and 1099.
